This is a fine quality antique English William IV rosewood canterbury, circa 1835, in good original condition. Incorporating a classic William IV crossbar outer frame with barley twist columns in each corner, capped with small finials, the canterbury is divided into thee compartments, by delicate turned spindles. The compartments are ideal for storing magazines, newspapers or music sheets. Below, a shaped hidden drawer opens to reveal additional storage space. The drawer is hand dovetailed with mahogany lined. The canterbury is raised on its original bulbous legs which retain the original brass castor collars and wheels. The Canterbury reflects a flamboyant and distinctive style, typical of the William IV period; it has been constructed from the finest rosewood timbers.
